Where this jar works best
Dried mushrooms are sold on sight and lost to moisture. A buyer picks up the jar, turns it and judges the cap: size, thickness, how pale the cut face is, whether the gills are clean. That judgement needs a clear wall and a body wide enough that the caps lie flat instead of being stacked on edge and snapped. The second half of the job is the closure — dried mushrooms sit at 10–12 % moisture, and every extra point they take from the air is a step closer to mould, to a musty smell, and to a pallet that has to be written off.
- Whole dried shiitake — 500–1,500 ml; caps laid flat, stems up, grade visible from the shelf.
- Porcini & wild mushroom slices — 500 ml and up, wide mouth so slices are tipped in, not pushed through a neck.
- Wood ear & black fungus — 250–1,000 ml; the frilled pieces keep their shape instead of packing into crumbs.
- Dried enoki & small bundles — 500–1,500 ml; bundles stand upright, tips intact.
- Soup packs & mixed wild mushroom gift sets — 250–500 ml, coloured lids, two or three sizes on one shelf.
Why the 82 mm mouth
A dried shiitake cap is 4–6 cm across and brittle at the edge. Through a narrow neck it has to be fed in one at a time, and every cap that touches the thread loses a piece of its rim — which is exactly the part the buyer looks at. 82 mm lets a scoop, a hand or a pair of tongs work without touching the thread, and it leaves a shoulder wide enough for a printed band. On a 1 L jar that is worth more than another 50 ml of volume.
Why the ring is molded into the lid
A loose gasket has a gap behind it, and in a dried-goods line that gap collects dust and broken gill fragments until the ring no longer seats. We co-inject the TPE ring into the PP lid in the same tool, so the two materials are bonded and there is nowhere for debris to sit. Every shift a jar is capped and held at −0.06 MPa for 30 seconds; a hardened ring will still screw down tight by hand, but it will not hold vacuum — and vacuum is the only thing standing between a twelve-month shelf life and a mould bloom in week six.
Dried mushrooms are bought with the eyes: the cap has to look whole through the jar, and it has to still look whole when the jar is opened at the other end of the shipment.
Customization
Capacity and shoulder shape are open — 50 ml to 1.5 L is what the molds cover today, and a new size is a tooling project rather than a catalogue change. Lid colour matched to your Pantone reference, body in clear or a light amber tint, 1–4 colour printing on the lid, and a printed sleeve, shrink band or label applied before packing. For origin-labelled lines we hold the mold and change only the lid colour and the print, which keeps tooling off a short run.
Packing & shipping
60 pcs per carton, lids fitted so the ring is not distorted in transit, and the carton lined so the bodies do not rub. Because the load is fragile, cartons are stacked to the pallet plan rather than to height, and loading photos are sent before dispatch on every shipment.
